Prayer is requested for Michal Geske, a long-term resident of Türkiye and post-graduate student at Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) in Ankara. Michal is completing a Masters in philosophy and has her dissertation on AI and Ethics at the end of August.
Michal had a student visa and applied for long-term residency in April 2024. Her application was rejected in May 2025 and when she tried to renew her existing student visa in June, she was informed that her residency had been vetoed and that she had 10 days to leave the country. No reason was given.
Human Rights lawyer Orhan Kemal Cengiz has filed a lawsuit with the Ankara Administrative Court requesting a stay and an annulment. Michal seeks to remain in the country while the legal contest is underway and complete her dissertation.
Michal has spent nearly all her life in Türkiye and is the daughter of German Christian worker Tilmann Geske, who was martyred alongside Turkish Christian converts Necati Aydın and Uğur Yüksel at the Zirve Publishing House in Malatya in 2007.
Prayer Points
Please pray that:
- The reason for the authorities vetoing Michal’s residency will be made clear,
- Michal will be able to stay and complete her master’s degree without further hindrance,
- The Turkish authorities will stop expelling foreign Christians who have made Türkiye their home and made personal sacrifices to serve the Lord in this land.
