MEC’s modus operandi is summarised as follows:
* Definition of religious persecution: the violation of Human Rights (HR) of an individual or group for primarily religious reasons.
* Definition of Christian:
Orthodox, Catholics and Protestants subscribing to the ancient creeds (e.g. the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed of 381AD).
* Policy on involvement: to become involved in any particular situation MEC requires (a) to be reasonably sure that this is a case of religious persecution of a Christian or Christians (b) clear authorisation by the victim(s) and/or their spiritual leader(s) (c) a clear understanding of the facts of the situation.
* Proactive involvement: MEC actively seeks information on situations, requests permission to support the victim(s) and makes conscious effort to develop contact networks throughout the Middle East and North Africa, and support networks world-wide.
* Accuracy of information: MEC seeks to follow the maxim “we got it right” rather than “we got it first”.
